Coming to America is a 1988 American romantic comedy film directed by John Landis and based on a story originally created by Eddie Murphy, who also starred in the lead role. The film also co-stars Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, Shari Headley, and John Amos after its successful run 32 years ago a sequel was in the works earlier this year and was billed to have its world premiere in December but due to the global pandemic it seems the plans for COMING TO AMERICA 2 is set to go digital as talks are still underway. Coming to America would be the latest theater-bound movie headed to streaming amid continued theatrical closures due to the coronavirus pandemic. reports are rife that Coming to America is in the process of being sold by distributor Paramount Pictures to Amazon Studios, in what is said to be a deal worth around $125 million.
Coming to America 2, which was set for a mid-December theatrical release, will see Murphy return as Prince Akeem, now set to become king, discovering he has a son he never knew about, a street-savvy Queens native named Lavelle. Honoring his father’s dying wish to groom his son as a newly crowned prince, Akeem must once again return to America.
