Idrissa Akuna Elba OBE who is an English actor, writer, producer, rapper, singer, songwriter and DJ known for roles including Stringer Bell in the HBO series The Wire, DCI John Luther in the BBC One series Luther, and Nelson Mandela in the biographical film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom went on his Instagram page to call on the various African leaders and West African bodies such as ECOWAS, UN, etc to speak up against the injustice that transpired on the people who were only making their voice heard on the issue to have the SPECIAL ANTI ROBBERY SQUAD famously known as SARS to be put to an abrupt end and for there to be a reform to police brutality with the hashtag #EndSARS, #ENDPOLICEBRUTALITY respectively.
In a statement accompaying the video Idris Elba had this to say;
Calling on Africans to unite in protest against what is happening on Nigerian soil. The leadership of other African nations need to make their voices heard for the protesters of SARS. From one leader to another, show them some perspective on the way they are handling the youth, IT IS WRONG and should be met with HEAVY criticism and positioning. AFRICA should not turn its back on this situation, the WORLD LEADERSHIP should not turn its back on this situation. Use your power and reach to influence the Nigerian government to govern this situation better and not spill blood.🇳🇬
