You really deserve a pat on the back for coming this far, no one ever anticipated the turn of events for this year and by this time last year 2019 we had to get ourselves ready to put in some measures on how our 2020 was going to be like guess what that failed woefully not because we didn’t work at achieving we were all badly hit by the global pandemic which obstructed a lot of plans and practically forced a lot of people, countries etc to shutdown and the new word that would take center stage was Lockdown. Now we there is no way on earth that some of the goals we actually had for 2020 was going to achieved in any way. But it wasn’t all gloomy as some still had the opportunity to make the very best of the dire situation and that worked for them so which ever side of the boat you find yourself no need to be worried, we have another year to plan for but this time we need to basically plan for the unforeseen.
We are going to jump straight into the simple fashionable ways on how to set goals for yourself and measures to achieve them, look the coming year is definitely going to be our best year yet, have that hope and the rest of this article would make sense to you. As you set goals or make choices for the New Year, here are three guidelines to follow;
- Phrase your choices in the NOW , as though you’ve already achieved it. Use “I am…” or “I allow myself to …” statements.
- Phrase your choices in the POSITIVE. Focus on the solution rather on what you don’t want. The mind doesn’t translate words of negation, such as not , don’t , or stop , because it thinks in pictures. If you set a goal that “I will quit smoking,” it’s hard for your mind to see a picture of NOT smoking. If you set a goal that “I allow myself to be a nonsmoker,” you can picture being a nonsmoker, as that’s something you can see other people who aren’t smoking. Create goals or make choices that the mind can visualize.
- Eliminate the words “WANT” and “TRY.” Would you rather want the perfect relationship, or would you rather have the perfect relationship? Would you rather want good health, or would you rather have good health? “Want” equates with deprivation, so avoid putting the feeling of lack in your goal or choice statements. Would you rather try to spend more time with your spouse, or would you rather do it? The word try does not commit you to taking action.
With these setting the motion you can clearly get where we want to take this from, now this is simple we need you to start having self proclamation, if you are going to achieve anything then it needs to start from you first before it radiates to your environment and then the people around you who affects you directly or indirectly. Now…get planning! Once you have a good sense of where you’d like to go in the coming year, it’s important to come up with a realistic way to lay out these objectives, and a reasonable way to measure them.
