Although the 2020 edition of Accra Fashion Week might has come to an end, the major highlight from this years Accra Fashion Week Summer Harmattan dubbed “Virtual Insanity” would probably be the showcasing of one of the top world’s menswear designers DON MORPHY. Daniel Mofor is the visionary founder behind Don Morphy, a Dallas-based custom menswear label with the ultimate in global appeal. Characterized as “bold, exciting, and timeless,” Don Morphy launched in 2014 with the Cameroonian native at the helm. Daniel epitomizes success. He commits to annual travels across the globe to attend the top menswear shows from Pitti Uomo, White Milano, Madrid Fashion Week, and Paris Fashion Week, in search of the latest trends for the Don Morphy customer. In 2018, he was nominated as a “Rising Star” in men’s fashion by Fashion Group International of Dallas. In 2019, Mofor was awarded one of fashion’s most prestigious honors as the “Rising Star” winner for Menswear by Fashion Group International New York City, with congratulatory recognition from Tommy Hilfiger, Women’s Wear Daily, Daily Front Row, and many others. Historically, it was the first time ever that a Dallas designer received an award in the menswear category. Thereafter, Mofor received the esteemed honor as the 2019 “Award of Excellence” recipient by Fashion Group International of Dallas.
Don Morphy gave Accra Fashion Week a run for it’s money as he showcased one of the best outfits for the night. Men had a field day with Don Morphy, the tuxedos, suits and pants was well tailored to perfection, one thing about the collection that had everyone captivated was the color, as we promised American-Ghanaian comedian Michael Blankson had his model debut by walking for the Texas based designers, he walked in the Don Morphy colorful tailored suit, the fabric choice for the collection was printed cotton which wasn’t your usual fabric choice, very colorful, part of the Don Morphy jacket came with embellishments which made the suit come alive in ways one couldn’t have phantom, Although Don Murphy is primarily a men’s wear brand, Don had a few collections for the women which came out beautifully.
